Tamakwa on The Sing-Off

Hello Fellow Tamakwans! It’s Josh Lavine – you might have seen me recently on NBC’s The Sing-Off with my a cappella group, The Princeton Footnotes...

From the Rec Hall stage to national television – who would’ve thought!

Funnily enough, it turns out that many of my music roots come from Camp Tamakwa. I remember when David Stringer sat me down at the piano and gave me my first piano and music theory lesson in the summer of 2009. Following that summer, I started learning the piano for real, and now it’s my job. Currently, I play and sing 4 nights a week at Kansas City’s Howl at the Moon – the largest duelling piano bar chain in America. So Tamakwa really is where it all began. Thanks Wakonda for looking out for me.

If you weren’t able to catch the Sing-Off, don’t worry—you can watch it on YouTube!

Much love,

Josh Lavine (I’m the bottom left below…)
